Who we count on

Ken Giffin, Executive Director

Ken Giffin

Ken Giffin joins the Greenways following a long career in utility and governmental work.

A native of Mooresville, Ken was high school student body president and a a four-sport varsity athlete. He is a graduate of the Indiana University Kelly School of Business with a B. S. in management, with graduate work at I. U. and Butler.

He is an Indiana National Guard, US Army reserve veteran of the Vietnam War era and served on active duty with the 101st Airborne Division at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky.

Most recently, acting as a consultant and realtor, Ken had spent 30 years with the Indianapolis Water Company, retiring early when the City of Indianapolis assumed ownership a few years ago. Ken had served as President of Waterway Holdings, the real estate subsidiary of IWC Resources and also as senior vice president of the Water Company itself, and all other subsidiaries of IWC Resources.

He has been involved in governmental activity a great deal, serving 24 years as an elected city-county councillor in Indianapolis, and also served for 11 years on the Indianapolis Board of Public Safety, longer than anyone in Indianapolis and unified government history. Other assignments included service on the board of the Indianapolis Airport Authority and on various state and federal commissions and boards.

Ken has been national treasurer of the American Legion, a trustee of Marian University, and served a 12-year term limited service as a director and member of the Executive Committee of Fifth Third Bank. He is a member of the board of the Lawrence Township School Foundation and of the Indianapolis Propylaeum.

Married to the former Marjorie Gates of Columbia City, he has three children.

Ken has been named a Sagamore of the Wabash by four Indiana governors, an award founded by his wife’s grandfather, Indiana Governor Ralph F. Gates of Columbia City.
